Gary Khaz is a self taught Chef and has been involved in restaurants and catering for over 27 years. In 1981 he purchased P.J. Deli & Grill in an affluent neighborhood of Manhattan, New York on 70th and 3rd Street. Within three years he was known as the caterer for "any event" in New York City - catering to `Wall Street, Socialites, City Officials and Fortune 500 companies'. The restaurant became a well-known hot spot for celebrities and businessmen and women who enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere.
In 1984, at the age of 26, he purchased another restaurant in the Wall Street area called "On Rye". It was also hugely successful.
Even with all this, Gary decided to try some place new so he moved west, with his family, to bring his East Coast `mentality and style' to Southern California. In 1991, he opened Manhattan Deli Bar & Grill which was ranked the number one deli/restaurant in Orange County by the Orange County Register. Within five years he expanded his restaurant to include outside catering.
ZCater, his corporate brand, and Art of the Party, his social brand, have become one of the leading catering operations in Orange County serving to countless repeat clients such as Microsoft, Mercedes Benz, The Irvine Company, BMW, Deloitte, Fluor, and Allergan Pharmaceuticals to name a few.
